Avove enhances vegetation management capabilities with a major fleet investment

Leading infrastructure and engineering company, Avove, has bolstered its growing arboricultural and vegetation management operations with a significant investment in a fleet of 23 high-performance chippers.

The order includes a range of tracked and towed Först chippers, each built to deliver the proven performance, reliability and ease of use that is required to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.

Finished in Avove’s distinctive custom colours, the chippers will strengthen the company’s vegetation management capabilities, giving teams the power and versatility to keep networks clear and running smoothly. The machines are the latest addition to Avove’s expansive fleet, which includes two powerful, remote-controlled mulchers and a selection of EVs.

The investment follows a series of high-profile purchases, giving its teams access to best-in-class machinery and equipment. With Health and Safety being a top priority for the company, these investments also ensure the continued wellbeing of its on-site operatives.

It marks the beginning of a collaborative partnership with the UK’s leading manufacturer of premium woodchippers, Först, who are providing a full-service package to keep the new fleet running at peak performance, long-term.

Jon Doyle, Head of Procurement (Fleet and Plant) at Avove, commented: “As a company, we are always looking for new ways to support our colleagues through impactful investments, and the arrival of Först’s tracked and towed chippers will make a significant difference to our vegetation management teams, allowing them to work safely and efficiently.

“In the last 18 months we have made a series of significant investments in both fleet and plant, such is our commitment to achieving service excellence. These investments have had a significant impact on our colleagues too, as it shows we care deeply about personal performance and well-being, developing a happier and healthier workforce that feels motivated to go above and beyond in their efforts. I’d like to thank Först for their professionalism and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”

Logan Coles, Business Development Manager at Först, added: “Seeing Avove invest in 23 Först machines is a huge vote of confidence in what we do. They run a demanding operation, so performance, reliability and cost-per-hour really matter. Avove know exactly what their teams need on the ground, and they’ve chosen a line-up of machines that will give them serious output with zero drama. It’s fantastic to see a national operator backing Först at this scale, and we’re proud to support them as they continue to grow.”

Avove supports clients in delivering industry-leading performance against their regulatory targets by designing, building and maintaining the UK’s utility infrastructure, transforming local communities for the better. As part of this work, its fully qualified arborists proactively maintain vegetation to ensure the lights are kept on, preventing trees from falling on to utility infrastructure.
