‘TRIALS OF ENDURANCE’ FIND EXPRESSION AT KOMATSU AND METSO DISTRIBUTORS MCHALE PLANT SALES

A team of nine ladies – all personal friends from Foynes village and surrounding areas – are currently engaged in intensive training ahead of their forthcoming participation in the challenging HYROX Endurance event taking place in Dublin’s RDS premises from November 12th – 16th next. Pictured (left to right) are ’Foynes Rox’ team members: Anne Fitzimons; Therése Hanlon; Dympna O’Malley; Katie Moynihan; Ann Shanahan; Niamh Mulcahy; Rose Moroney; Margaret Kelly and Pamela Costello. With them are Foynes LVL 1 gym-owner, Shane Dunne (centre right) and McHale Plant Sales managing director, Tim Shanahan (centre left).

Given their role as distributors of Komatsu and Metso equipment, little wonder that UK and Ireland based construction equipment specialists, McHale Plant Sales would be attracted to sponsor a nine-strong team in an event that had ‘endurance’ in its title.

The mid-November HYROX Enduranceevent in which they will take part – described as an ‘electrifying’ extravaganza open to polished athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts seeking to raise their training to the next level – is being held over four days in Dublin’s RDS complex.

Competitions combine 1km running events and ‘test-of-endurance’ workouts involving ‘push/pull’ weight trials – all of which will be repeated eight times over the four days of the competition and hosted indoors within the view of spectators.

Parents to 27 children between them, the team’s occupations range from teacher, a specialist nurse, solicitor, football coach, IT engineer, and microbiologist – and all are resident in the Shannon-side village of Foynes, close to Limerick City and McHale Plant Sales Irish HQ in Birdhill.

Praising their ‘enterprise and valour’, Tim Shanahan said “they will carry with them the very best wishes of all in our company at Birdhill and Rathcoole, and those who drive our UK operations in Tamworth and Edinburgh”.
