ACE Plant Ltd will showcase the Dromone D80 ‘Ball & Spoon’ hitch in the QUARRY at Hillhead 2026, highlighting its commitment to improving towing safety and reducing exposure to Whole Body Vibration (WBV) in construction.
WBV, often captured under Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) in Health and Safety Executive (HSE) data, is a leading contributor to back pain and spinal issues. MSDs accounts for approximately 7.1 million lost working days annually in the UK, with construction identified as a high-risk sector. In total, work-related ill health and injury in the UK result in around 40.1 million lost days per year. While the HSE does not publish WBV-specific absenteeism data, the risks can be inferred from MSD statistics, highlighting the significant impact poor towing practices have on worker wellbeing.
ACE Plant Ltd is introducing the Dromone D80 Ball & Spoon Hitch system across its towable plant fleet. The system has been designed to enhance towing safety, reduce the risk of trailer breakaways, and minimise the long-term health risks associated with poor towing techniques. Supplied through Lynx Engineering and tailored specifically for ACE Plant’s construction equipment, the D80 provides improved coupling security, stability, and ease of use, directly addressing the causes of musculoskeletal disorders such as chronic back pain, spinal strain, and fatigue.
By integrating the D80 system, ACE Plant is future-proofing its fleet while setting higher standards in safety, compliance, towing performance, and operator welfare for its customers.
The Dromone D80 ‘Ball & Spoon’ hitch paired with the ACE Plant safety chain solution will be managing the dust suppression on the demonstration area with the industry renowned DSU with rain gun and spinning disc while reducing whole body vibration for the operator.
