Taking quantum enabled gravity sensors out of the lab to create the Google Maps for the underground
Delta.g, the deep tech startup creating quantum enabled gravity gradiometry solutions to deliver the ‘Google Maps for the underground’ has appointed Tony Lowe as Chief Executive Officer to further accelerate the commercial application of its technology.
A UK technology startup veteran, Lowe has played a leading role in the development, delivery, and commercialisation of cutting-edge technology globally over the last 15 years – delivering products for brands including Jaguar Land Rover, AT&T and Harman Samsung.
Most recently, Lowe has focused his energies on advancing the commercial deployment of deep tech, serving as Chief Operating Officer with deep tech scaleups Oxa and Oxford Quantum Circuits where he was instrumental in supporting the raise of over $300M in series B/C funding in the quantum computing and autonomous vehicles spaces over the last four years.
Lowe said: “I’m delighted to be joining the company spearheading the near-term commercial application of quantum technologies, creating the Google Maps for the underground to solve real world use cases in multiple industry verticals.
“My passion lies in building scalable, generative companies to deliver world changing technologies. Delta.g builds on over a decade of research and IP in the University of Birmingham’s Quantum Technology Hub for Sensors and Timing, utilising over £20M in UK Government funding with the founding team that won the international race to take gravity gradiometry out of the lab and into the real world.
“The application of this technology will have an enormous impact globally, from eliminating the need for speculative drilling to monitor and identify resources, providing a secure standalone solution for global navigation and reliably identifying utilities and transport infrastructure to reduce the number of roadworks to name just some of the use cases.
“I’d like to give my huge thanks to the interim CEO Pete Stirling, who built the venture in collaboration with the academic founders and will continue to represent Delta.g as Chief Commercial Officer driving our commercial and partnership strategy.”
Outgoing CEO, and Chief Commercial Officer Pete Stirling said: “Tony has the leadership experience and personality that will drive Delta.g forward in the long term. I look forward to supporting him in achieving Delta.g’s significant objectives and delivering value to our stakeholders by converting this revolutionary sovereign research capability into a world leading deep technology business.”
John Williams – Partner at SCVC, the UK early-stage deep tech venture capital firm that led the Delta.g pre-seed investment round – said: “Deep tech startups live or die by their leadership, and in Tony we’re convinced we have found the best placed CEO to lead the business and realise its long-term ambitions. I’m excited to be working closely with Tony to ensure he has the support he needs to put the operational structure in place to realise his vision for Delta.g.”
