Brokk is a key manufacturer of remote-controlled demolition robots. Established in 1976, the Swedish company has developed demolition and maintenance solutions for various industries, including construction, mining, metal process, tunnel-making and nuclear.
Today, we will take a look at two polar opposites from their range of demolition robots.
The rock-crushing giant
Brokk have recently announced the arrival of the all-new Brokk 900, the world’s largest and most powerful demolition robot. The powerful machine comes in two models: the standard Brokk 900 with the most powerful breaker ever put on a demolition robot, and Brokk 900 Rotoboom featuring a high-precision rotating boom system. Using Brokk SmartPower™ technology to improve the powertrain, the new model delivers a 25% increase in output power compared to its predecessor without a major increase in size or weight.
The Rotoboom version is designed for maximum flexibility in applications where access and precision are more important than power. It has a 360-degree continuous boom rotation with smooth movements for maximum precision, it is heat protected for red-hot refractory work in metal plants, and it comes with Brokk’s patented heat-shielded hydraulic breaker.
With operating costs and environmental friendliness in mind, both models come with the option of an electric or diesel powertrain. Although the electric version may be preferable for those looking to cut emissions, the new diesel engine is not far behind, meeting the toughest emissions standards that exist today. It is compliant with both the USA standard EPA Tier 4 Final and the EU Stage V standard.
“All in all, the new Brokk 900 represents what we are known for. More power in a compact and smart package. And that stays true even for our biggest demolition robot.”, said Martin Krupicka, CEO of Brokk.
Mini destroyer packs a punch
Brokk 70 is the world’s smallest diesel-powered demolition robot. It specialises in bringing safe, mechanized and efficient demolition to the most confined spaces. The miniature machine weighs only 560 kg, fits through the narrowest doorways and can be transported in an ordinary passenger elevator. Just like the predecessor, it still runs on only a 16A fuse.
Brokk’s SmartPower™ electric powertrain technology increases the machine’s power from 5,5 kW to 9,8 kW and enables the demolition robot to power twice the size breaker as its predecessor. This results in a 100% increase in demolition power compared to the previous model, the Brokk 60.
The Brokk 70 comes with several brand-new attachments, making the machine versatile. The new Brokk BHB105 breaker weighs in at over 100 kg and comes with advanced features, such as water spray to suppress dust and air cooling for hot environments. The new Brokk BDC40 drum cutter brings real cutting power to the smallest segment of demolition robots for the first time. For more efficient soft demolition, the new Brokk G32 demolition grapple is the best tool for the job.
This small yet powerful demolition robot creates new possibilities for mechanised demolition in places where it was previously impossible.
The two machines are opposites in stature, yet they are unified by their adaptability to their respective environments. Big or small, there’s always a unique machine for demolition work.
