Bradfords Building Supplies Goes Electric with Kubota purchase

One of the South West’s leading building suppliers is continuing its push towards greener practices, with the purchase of a new KC70-4e from Kubota dealer, CCE Plant Sales.

The Yeovil-based merchant, which currently has 21 Tool Hire locations across the Southwest and the Midlands have taken delivery of their first electric mini tracked dumper at their Exeter depot. If successful, Bradfords will look to expand its fleet of electric Kubota’s, during 2023/ 24.

Capable of the same high performance as its diesel or petrol-powered equivalents, the KC70-4e is powered by a lithium-ion battery. With a robust and consolidated lower frame, the KC70-4e can be used indoors and is easy to manoeuvre and operate.

The purchase of the KC70-4e is the latest step towards more sustainable operations from Bradfords. In addition to trialling electric machinery, the merchant has also made the switch to cordless power tools to minimise its reliance on fossil fuels and help reduce its carbon footprint.

Keith Hallam, Trading Director for the Tool Hire brand at Bradfords said: “As a business, we are committed to making our practices as environmentally friendly as possible and the machinery we source helps us to achieve that. Kubota’s KC70-4e looks to be the ideal machine for our needs; compact, robust and easy-to-handle, but powered by a lithium-ion battery to help us make carbon savings. We’re looking forward to seeing the results of our trial.”

Bradfords is a business champion for the UK’s Construction Leadership Council net-carbon zero programme, Co2nstructZero, which lists one of its 9 priorities as,  accelerating the shift of the construction workforce to zero emission vehicles and onsite plant.

George Whiting, Sales Manager at CCE, added: “It’s fantastic to have supplied the KC70-4e to Bradfords and help them work towards their sustainability objectives. Over the past few years, we have seen a real increase in demand from our customers for sustainable construction machinery and Kubota’s solutions are really helping businesses and operators make greener choices.”
