A leading plant hirer has hailed the “brilliant battery life” of its two new JCB electric Loadall telescopic handlers which are delivering eight hours continuous operation on a single charge.
Purchased by Wellingborough-based RJC Plant Hire, the two new JCB 525-60E models deliver zero emissions at point of use with comparable performance to their diesel counterparts.
The machines have been supplied by dealer Watling JCB along with the JCB fast charging option. RJC Plant Hire has chosen the electric machines in response to direct requests from its customers for greener, lower emissions machines.
RJC Plant Hire Managing Director, Peter Mullett said: “We have over 50 JCB telehandlers and have changed the majority of them over to HVO fuel for enhanced emissions performance. However, with several of our major customers asking for even greener machines, the electric JCB Loadalls were a must have in order to help them reduce their carbon emissions.
“The 525-60E machines have been excellent from day one. The battery life is brilliant, lasting significantly longer than competitors’ models we have tested. We can get eight hours’ continuous operation from a single charge which is fantastic for our customers – giving several days’ worth of typical operations.”

For over 15 years, RJC Plant Hire has also worked with JCB Finance – which has provided hire purchase facilities to support business growth.
Peter Mullet added: “JCB Finance helped me with the investment in these two JCB 520-60E Loadalls. As a specialist asset finance company with years of experience in construction, they totally understood the needs of my business and the opportunity this purchase provided us with. I spoke to my local relationship manager, and he put everything in place using the HP Plus facility. The excellent service and the access to JCB Finance Online makes life so easy.”
Designed to deliver the same performance as the conventional diesel-powered machine, the 525-60E offers a zero-emissions load handling solution. A further benefit of electric operation is a significant reduction in noise levels, making the Loadall suitable for extended operation in sensitive urban job sites.
External dimensions are unchanged from its diesel counterpart and the 525-60E offers the same 3.7m outside turn radius. Maximum lift capacity is 2,500kg, with a 2,000kg maximum load at the full six metre lift height. The machine has been designed to deliver similar cycle times as the diesel telescopic, with no loss of performance.
Northamptonshire-based RJC Plant Hire is a family run rental business which has been trading for over 20 years. With an extensive fleet of primarily JCB equipment it serves the needs of major rail, construction, building, farming and landscaping firms.
