The construction industry is facing a number of major challenges – supply bottlenecks, a shortage of skilled workers, inflation – and they are putting pressure on one of the driving forces of German industry. Goldhofer has always been committed to the principle of solution-oriented partnerships in proximity to customers and markets. In order to further promote a constructive dialogue with customers, Goldhofer AG has decided to make its first ever appearance at NordBau in 2023 and thus send out a signal of trust in the market.
At NordBau 2023, which will be held from September 6 – 10 in Neumünster, Germany, Goldhofer AG will be making its first appearance – together with Volvo Trucks – in the outdoor area West, stand W223, at what the organizers call Northern Europe’s largest compact trade fair for the construction industry. Goldhofer will be contributing three exhibits and will also have a few surprises to offer.
With the »TRAILSTAR«, which made its international debut at IAA 2022, Goldhofer AG landed a real hit. The trailer enables haulage companies operating in the fields of construction and forwarding to transport universal loads economically, reliably, quickly and safely. In addition, the four-axle version on show at NordBau is equipped with self-tracking for even greater maneuverability. Among other features, this highly flexible trailer has an optimal payload to deadweight ratio and Wader container locks for transporting 10-foot construction containers. The »TRAILSTAR« is also available with Goldhofer’s new »CargoPlus« tires for axle loads of ten or twelve tons for a usable loading height of 780 mm (-60/+140 mm).
Like all »STARLINE« trailers, the »TRAILSTAR« comes with lots of intelligent details, like a practical load securing system, form-fit pocket stakes and a tried and tested ramp design for a low drive-on angle so that low-floor vehicles can also be accommodated. A very wide, deep and long excavator arm recess is also available for transporting excavators with large excavator arms.
Visitors to NordBau will be able to see the modular »STARLINE« system and its advantages for themselves, as a further exhibit will be a three-axle »STEPSTAR« with two pairs of wheel recesses. This vehicle also scores with a very low deadweight, which translates into a significant increase in payload. The use of premium components means longer maintenance intervals and extended service life in the fleet so that total cost of ownership is lower than that of comparable trailers. The two pairs of wheel recesses allow extremely high construction machines to be transported where maximum height regulations would otherwise be a problem. The wheel recesses have a low entry angle and cross ribs for safe loading when transporting wheeled vehicles with a low load angle. The depth of the wheel recesses can be adjusted to the ground clearance of the vehicle to be transported. With the proven »MPA« Goldhofer has another highlight on show at NordBau. At the technical level, the all-rounder with MacPherson axle technology offers high lateral stability. The small number of components makes the »MPA« an extremely low-maintenance solution, which is designed for high
axle loads of 15.6 t at 20 km/h and combines a wide steering angle of 60° with a low loading height of only 785 mm. The robust design and high bending resistance of the vehicle frame ensure maximum reliability and long service life. That is ideal for the grueling conditions of construction site working. But that is not all: The 7-axle trailer on display is the first Goldhofer vehicle designed by Goldhofer brand ambassador Iwona Blecharczyk with her Imagination Transport company. At NordBau 2023 she will be personally presenting her first heavy-duty tractor-trailer rig, with a brand-new Volvo tractor unit.

With its 750 hp, Iwona Blecharczyk’s Volvo FH16 in the 8×4 version is the ultimate in power from Volvo Trucks. It is capable of handling a gross combination weight of up to 325 tons. With Volvo’s I-Shift transmission, gear change always occurs at exactly the right moment. The selector is integrated into the seat and ergonomically shaped for easy operation. As an option, I-Shift can also be controlled via buttons on the instrument cluster instead of using the selector. The instrument display is fully digital and offers additional options for drivers to tailor the work environment to their needs in any situation. An additional nine-inch side display gives them convenient control of truck functions, including up to eight cameras and apps. With its low noise level and zero emissions, the Volvo FM Electric, which is already in series production, is the perfect choice for a wide range of transport operations. A combined electric motor output of 490 kW and a range of up to 300 km make the Volvo FM Electric ideal for handling food deliveries, container transports, crane services and much else in urban areas – all with a greatly reduced environmental impact. The FM Electric comes into its own in zero-emission zones or at times of day when the use of diesel vehicles is restricted. With a gross combination weight rating of 44 t, it is also well-equipped for heavy-duty work in the harsh working environment of the construction site.
