Witham Group Raises £10,000 for Local Charities at Annual Ball

Witham Group, a leading UK manufacturer of lubricants and paints, and Lincolnshire established family business, successfully hosted its annual charity in January, raising a fantastic £10,000 for their three charities of the year.

The funds have been split between three vital local organisations: Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, and TOFS in Nottinghamshire.

Representatives from the organisations were recently presented with their shares of the total, which will go directly toward supporting some fantastic causes:

  • LRSN: Providing vital health and emotional support to Lincolnshire’s agricultural community.
  • TOFS: Supporting those born with rare oesophageal conditions through research and family support.
  • Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust: Protecting local habitats and managing nearly 100 nature reserves.

The fundraising event, held at the DoubleTree Hilton in Lincoln, brought together team members, suppliers, and customers, from all over the UK for an evening of celebration and fundraising. A fun auction and raffle, featuring generously donated prizes, all contributed significantly to the impressive total.

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests,” said Nigel R Bottom, Witham Group MD. “Raising £10,000 is a testament to the community spirit in our team, suppliers and customers. We know these three charities work tirelessly in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, and we are honoured to support their missions.”

The cheque presentations took place at Witham Group’s head office in Lincoln with representatives from each of the charities.

Diane Stephens from TOFS commented: “We’re enormously grateful to the team at Witham Group for such a generous donation which will make a real difference to our community. Newborns with OA/TOF undergo life-saving surgery, and many have continuing gastric and respiratory problems, which can sometimes last for life.  We’ll put this money to good use in helping new parents to cope better with the day-to-day challenges that OA/TOF brings and in supporting adults with ongoing problems.”

Emma Billings, Corporate Partnership Co-ordinator from LRSN said: “We are thrilled with the very generous donation from the Witham Group Team. This money will help support the costs of all our helpline, nurses and front-line case workers and ensure our services which are in growing demand, continue to provide much needed support to the rural communities of Lincolnshire”.

A further cheque presentation to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust will take place at a future date. The charity will receive money to help towards their education centre at Whisby Nature Reserve and also funds to support the regeneration of Hawthorpe Reserve in South Lincolnshire.

The Witham Annual Charity Ball, has become a tradition of the business since 1993, is just one of the many ways Witham Group supports charitable causes throughout the year, raising in excess of £150,000 for good causes since then.

About the Charities

Lincolnshire Rural Support Network – LRSN

Witham MD Nigel Bottom’s Charity of the Year this year through his Presidency of the Sandringham Royal Warrant Holders Association, LRSN provides vital support to the rural businesses and communities of Lincolnshire. From nurses offering health checks to case workers supporting clients who need help with emotional, family or business matters, LRSN offers a professional listening ear, using its helpline and amazing network of services, it ensures our local agricultural community is heard and supported in times of need.

TOFS

Oesophageal Atresia and Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula are rare congenital conditions of the oesophagus (food pipe) and/or trachea (airway) that affects 1 in every 3,500 people. The charity was set up 40 years ago as a self-help group, for families of children who are born with these conditions. TOFs became a UK registered charity in 1987, helping children to live a full life as possible, engaging in clinical research, surgical innovations and support groups for patients and their families. Funding also helps spread the word about these conditions and offer practical help and information through every stage of life. tofs.org.uk

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust

The Trust has worked for over 70 years protecting wildlife and wild places, and educating, influencing and empowering people. The trust manages almost 100 nature reserves and more wild spaces for wildlife in Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North-East Lincolnshire. Their work is helping to secure the future of many important habitats and species, which might otherwise be lost, by restoring, recreating and reconnecting wildlife rich spaces with landowners, local authorities, local communities and other organisations. By working together, they help can create inter-connected habitats, allowing wildlife to move more freely.
