On Tuesday 19th of April, Plant Planet had the pleasure of visiting the Merlo Global Headquarters in Cuneo, Italy!

The Merlo team presented the latest Merlo innovations, as well as their incredible history and a tour around their machinery factory.

It was an early start for Plant Planet as we boarded a plane and travelled with the Merlo UK team to the Merlo HQ based in Cuneo, Italy. Upon arrival at Merlo’s headquarters, we were greeted by the Merlo team and were guided through a presentation of the integrated departments that make up the Merlo Group, as well as an insight into Merlo’s incredible history and their dedication to how the business continued to function throughout the impact of the pandemic, continuing unabated with their development growth plans that are set out to take place over the next 2/3 years, with 3 key foundations in mind: Production, Innovation, and Services.

The Merlo factory manufactures and designs many machinery parts in house with each part designed uniquely for each market, guaranteed to provide the best safety for their customers. The day came to a close with a visit from founder, Mr Amilcare Merlo himself, who expressed his gratitude and his overwhelming appreciation of all those who support not only his business but his family as well, who are always at the heart of the business.

On day 2 at Merlo HQ, Plant Planet were guided around their incredible training facility in Cuneo, spanning over 330,000 square meters and employs around 1,600 people, which also allows over 2,400 people trained on all types of machinery in the facility. All the products in the training facility were designed to fulfil expectations at the highest level.

The Merlo team gave an overview of the 2022 Merlo Group range of NEW & existing products including technical details on innovations such as:

  • eWorker
  • PANORAMIC RANGE
  • ROTO RANGE
  • TurboFarmer + MultiFarmer RANGE
  • CINGO RANGE
  • TREEMME RANGE
  • TECNO RANGE

Throughout the tour of the facility, we had the opportunity to see the full range of machinery on site, including their first telescopic handler, the SM 30, produced in 1981!

Plant Planet also had the opportunity to operate and take part in many different activities showcasing just some of the opportunities Merlo’s training facility has to offer.

Plant Planet’s Marketing Manager had the thrill of driving the Merlo EWORKER, driving the fully electric telescopic handler around an obstacle course located on the facility.

Kate was also let behind the wheel of one of Merlo’s telehandlers and had to strategically operate the boom and place the pin into the allocated area

Following this, Plant Planet had the opportunity to take part in The PLATFORM Experience which saw us reach incredible heights on the platform of Merlo’s ROTO 50.26 S PLUS – with an view of the entire facility!

A massive thank you to all the Merlo team for the their hospitality and the opportunity to see the foundations that make their company. Be sure to read more about Merlo in the June 2022 edition of Plant Planet!
